Session 3: 12 September 2025
Interactive Q&A with an experienced bookkeeper
We have invited one of our senior bookkeeper members, Mel Weston, to join us for an interactive Q&A session. Mel will share her journey as a bookkeeper on how she started, the challenges she’s overcome, how she maintains work-life balance, and the systems she uses to streamline her practice.
This is a great opportunity to gain practical insights from an experienced bookkeeper, learn tips and strategies you can apply to your own practice and connect and exchange ideas with fellow members.
Don’t miss out on this chance to be part of a supportive conversation and take away ideas to help you grow both personally and professionally.
Meet our speaker:
Mel Weston
Mel is a dedicated business owner committed to empowering clients with the support they need to reclaim valuable time and focus on growing their businesses.
With over 20 years of experience in administration and bookkeeping, Mel is a certified professional and Xero partner based in New Zealand. Her expertise and dedication have been recognized nationally, being named a finalist in the NZ Virtual Assistants Awards in both 2023 and 2024.
Session 4: 14 November 2025
Fixed Fees, Advisory, and AI: What’s Changing in Bookkeeping
Bookkeeping is evolving worldwide. Fixed monthly fees are becoming the norm, and many bookkeepers are naturally expanding into client advisory. It’s a natural progression — moving from completing GSTs to also helping clients understand what the numbers actually mean.
AI is beginning to take on some of the routine work*, and that’s creating opportunities, not closing them. It frees up time to focus on what so many bookkeepers already excel at: guiding clients and making sense of their business in a way only you can.
In New Zealand, the GST period remains one of the biggest time sinks. Aider’s close tool is designed to lift that weight, giving you back hours each cycle.
In this session, we’ll share a quick demo of Aider (not a pitch) so you can see it in action, followed by plenty of time for audience Q&A.
*Full automation is still a long way off (if it ever happens). The human brain — and the care that comes with it — can’t be replaced.
Meet our speaker:
Bailey Roiall
Bailey partners with accountants and bookkeepers to turn time saved with AI into time invested in advisory. A musician, foodie, and cat-lover, Bailey’s Turkish Angora sidekick may even make a surprise appearance.
